I have over 28 years experience in the construction industry. I have vast experience in all major aspects of the industry: Domestic, Civil, Commercial, Industrial, Pharmaceutical.
Over the last decade he has followed a career in Health & Safety and provides on and off site administration support to a variety of contractors from domestic dwellings to large complex sites with 200+ workers.
The purpose of this site:
20 out of the last 28 years in Construction I have been self-employed. Everyone thinks that being self-employed is easy “do the work and collect the bobs !”. What a lot of people don’t realise is that when you are self-employed not only must you be good at your trade. But you must also have the following attributes.
- Sales – If you can’t sell yourself then you’re at nothing
- Finance – One has to be able to manage money to have a business
- Experience – One has to appreciate the trades working before, with or after them
While the majority of people are aware of the physical requirements of Health & Safety many folks are lost at the administration side of it. Thus this site.
I interact with people on site and in the class as I also am a Health & Safety trainer and I see a lack of knowledge with administration. So I have created a simple way for people to put together a method statement building tool.
The road map is to further develop the site:
- To include Preliminary and Construction Safety & Health plans for domestic and small commercial developments.
- Traffic Management plans for small works
This should not be used or viewed as a “simple click and away you go site” but it should be used for employers/contractors to develop a “Safe System of Work”, name the hazards and edit the controls to suit the working environment and then to bring this to the attention of employees and others in the works are so that we all have a safer working environment.
